Scott Perry has advocated for legislation to control government spending, enforce immigration law, bolster national security and protect families who seek medical care for their children.
Two legislative measures sponsored by Scott have been signed into law. The first, a bipartisan amendment to H.R. 4007, the Protecting and Securing Chemical Facilities from Terrorist Attacks Act, reinforces the protection and security of chemical facilities from terrorist attacks. In December of 2014, his legislation to preserve the Lincoln Train Station, where President Abraham Lincoln arrived prior to delivering the Gettysburg Address (originally H.R. 1513), was incorporated into separate legislation and signed into law.
Social Security provides critical financial support to more than 56 million beneficiaries, to include widow/ers and people w/disabilities. Social Security is funded by the payroll taxes of current employees to pay the benefits of current retirees.
We must simplify our tax code. I’m in favor of reforming the current tax code and implementing a plan that is simpler, fairer and lowers tax rates. When coupled with reduced federal spending, comprehensive tax reform could reignite job creation and make our economy healthier.
Empowering Families and Making Our Economy Healthy
The U.S. House adopted an amendment in June 2015 (to H.R. 2578) by Scott and Congressman Bob Dold of Illinois that allows states who have legalized cannabidiol (CBD) to do so without federal interference. CBD has shown significant results in reducing the amount and duration of seizures in those who suffer from epilepsy and other seizure disorders.
Real Health Care Reform
I’ve supported common sense reforms to increase access to affordable health insurance, encourage private sector competition and give individuals the freedom to manage their own health care.
