Scott Perry announces run for US Congress

Wants to continue the effort to bring REAL leadership and change to Washington
January 24, 2012

Pennsylvania State Representative Scott Perry (R-92nd Legislative District) announced his intention to seek the 4th congressional district saying he would make a struggling economy/job creation, fiscal discipline and a strong national defense his top priorities. "The world is a dangerous place. President Obama’s domestic and foreign policies are weakening our economic recovery and our military; this has a tremendously negative impact on our national defense which is strongly tied to our local economy," said Perry.

Perry who is a Colonel in the Pennsylvania Army National Guard and has served his country in both Bosnia and Iraq, pointed to the Defense Logistics Agency Distribution Depot Susquehanna in New Cumberland, the Navy Depot in Mechanicsburg, the US Army War College at Carlisle Barracks and Letterkenny Army Depot as important sources of jobs locally. Scott knows the importance of effort and dedication. He began his working career at age 13 picking fruit at Ashcombe’s farm in Mechanicsburg. He has worked as a mechanic, a dock worker, draftsman, and a licensed insurance agent. He is a 1980 graduate of Northern High School and the Cumberland-Perry Vo-Tech School. To further his education, Scott was able to put himself through college while working a full-time job. He graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1991 where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration Management.

Scott and his wife, Christy, are the parents of two daughters, Ryenn and Mattea. "Like any father, I am concerned about the world we leave for our children. That is why I will fight for economic stability and the associated private sector jobs it will bring, fiscal discipline including a balanced budget and a strong national defense in Congress," said Perry.
